Typical Lesson Format

Homework question live feedback and solutions
Worked through using the Miro Collaborative board or on the Tutor’s iPad on the scanned through paper answered questions.

Student theory questions addressed
Through live modelling using techniques such as dual coding — drawn, labelled diagrams talked through with stress on key terminology definitions, with alternative accepted definitions differentiated to the student’s level of language.

Verbal examination
Used as a starter or closing activity to review progress and consolidate learning.

Tutor creates live exam-style questions
Tutor creates questions linked directly to the session content worked on, allowing students to immediately apply their understanding.

Question command word support
Helps students to unpack the question, understand exactly what is being asked and make their answers more relevant and coherent.

Data interpretation support
How to read, describe and explain graphs and tables with confidence, developing the skills needed to interpret scientific data accurately.

Experimental design & 6-marker support
Students are given cheat sheets outlining the structure to follow when answering these questions, alongside developing a full understanding of variables, examples and their importance.
